City of Galt issued the following announcement on Dec. 2
The City of Galt has seen a 19% increase in COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks, with Sacramento County recording a 21% increase over the same period. COVID related deaths in Galt have not changed, Sacramento County however, has seen a 9% increase in deaths since November 17th. This is similar to what's occurring throughout California with over 99% of the state’s population now in the most restrictive tier of the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, the purple tier.
Governor Newsom warned during a press conference on Monday, November 30, that another strict stay-at-home order may be necessary to curb the virus’ spread in counties that remain in the purple tier. He indicated that without additional intervention, hospitalizations could triple in a month, and California could hit 112% ICU capacity by Christmas Eve. Hospital and ICU capacity continues to be the most concerning issue at this point in time.
The governor did allude to additional modifications in order for businesses to continue operating, but has not specified what those might be. The City will continue to update residents as we learn more on the state restrictions as well as conversations happening at the county level related to enforcement of the Sacramento County Public Health Order.
COVID-19 testing continues to be offered every Thursday at the Chabolla Center in Galt. Information regarding testing can be found here.
